On May 8, our university held the second general meeting of the Alumni Association. Taking the opportunity that some alumni of foreign language majors returned to school to attend the meeting, the College of Foreign Languages invited the alumni to have a discussion with teachers and students. Five alumni, including Duanmu Xiaobo (Class of 1984), Gong Xiqian and Yuan Chi (Class of 1985), Liu Jie (Class of 1986), and Zhao Yurun (Class of 1990), were invited to attend the meeting, which was held in Room 515 of the Foreign Language Building, with the participation of Zhu Yaobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Dean Zhang Yan, Vice Dean He Shaobin and Guo Haixia, as well as representatives of teachers from various departments, counselors, and student.
Before the meeting, Secretary Zhu Yaobin delivered a speech to welcome and thank the alumni and hoped that they would help the new development of the College. Dean Zhang Yan explained the topic of the seminar How to promote the College to build a high-level maritime university with global influence and invited alumni to give their suggestions for the talent training.
The alumni were grateful for the deep foundation laid by their alma mater's training and foreign language study for their career development. They combined their study and work experience to give advice on how to promote the College of Foreign Languages to build a high-level maritime university with global influence from the aspects of curriculum design, professional characteristics, social needs, job search, and career selection.
Finally, on behalf of the College, Dean Zhang Yan thanked the alumni for their insightful comments. She pointed out that their speeches provided important suggestions and inspirations for the professional development and training programs of the College from different perspectives, and hoped that with their help, we could jointly promote the development of the College.
