In the afternoon of November 25, the staff branch of the Department of Translation of the School of Foreign Languages and the staff branch of the English Department of Shanghai Electric Power University jointly studied the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee at the Party Building Service Center of Shanghai Electric Power University. Li Pingyou, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Foreign Languages, members of the Party and team of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Electric Power University, and all members of both branches attended the meeting.
During the study activity, Comrade Yu Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party General Branch of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Electric Power University, introduced the theme and agenda of the study, saying that as teachers of the School of Foreign Languages, they should respond to the requirement of insisting on having the world in mind as proposed in the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee, study the important remarks of the General Secretary about the community of human destiny.
After watching the video clip of the interpretation of the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Nineteenth Central Committee, Pan Weimin, the dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Electric Power University and a member of the teaching staff of English, made a speech on Facing the future, innovating the foreign language talents training system with energy and power characteristics on the road of opening up, saying that as the School of Foreign Languages with industrial characteristics in Lin-gang, it is necessary to be smart in talent training and college development.
Mr. Jiang Zhejie, secretary of the translation department of the College of Foreign Languages, made a special speech on the characteristics of our translation department, introducing the development history of our foreign language and translation discipline and the degree point construction in recent years, pointing out that our translation department will base on maritime affairs and face the sea in personnel training, continuously strengthen the weight of maritime affairs and shipping courses in the training of translation personnel, strengthen the cooperation with government departments, various associations, and enterprises, and serve the maritime power and shipping industry.
After that, the party members of both branches shared their views on the development of curriculum thinking and politics with school characteristics.
In his concluding speech, Li Pingyou, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Foreign Languages of our university, affirmed the joint study group and believed that the College of Foreign Languages, which is also located in Lin-gang, should strengthen the exchange of party building work, learn from each other and promote the integration and development of party building and business work.
The leaders and members of the two sides thought that the joint study group had good timing, good theme, and good prospect, which helped both sides deepen their understanding, strengthen communication, clarify, and improve their development ideas, and do a good job of training foreign language talents to serve the national strategic needs more actively and consciously.
