On December 8, 2021, the Innovation Base and the 12th Wenxin Academic Forum for Postgraduates of the College of Foreign Languages were successfully held in Room 326, Room 226, and Room 215 of the Foreign Languages Building. The heads of master's degree programs, supervisors, and postgraduates of the College of Foreign Languages participated in this forum.
Firstly, the participants made a brief presentation of their papers, including the topic, introduction, literature review, research method, and conclusion. After that, the judges made comments on the novelty of the topic and the integrity of the structure of the thesis and analyzed the problems. In a relaxed and active atmosphere, the communication and review of the sub-forum ended.
After the fierce competition of the postgraduates and the careful scoring of the judges, a total of 40 first, second and third prizes were awarded in this forum, and the judges and experts presented the certificates to the winning students.
Dean Zhang Yan made a conclusion at last. She said she was very pleased to see the rigorous and elaborate academic preparations made by the students in the Forum. The students used various research methods such as corpus, word frequency analysis, and knowledge mapping to analyze the selected topics from different perspectives of linguistics, literature, and translation. At the same time, Dean Zhang emphasized that we are a comprehensive institution with maritime characteristics. We hope that students will give full play to the advantages of their foreign language majors to create maritime literature, maritime language corpus, and maritime translation research with maritime characteristics.
The forum laid a good foundation for further mobilizing and tapping the advantageous resources of postgraduate education, stimulating the academic enthusiasm of postgraduates, and especially creating a good academic atmosphere for all postgraduates.
