In order to further understand the study and living conditions of minority students and improve the level of education and management services for minority students, the College of Foreign Languages held a seminar for minority students in the afternoon of December 22 in the conference room of Foreign Language Building 515, with the participation of Li Pinyou, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Ouyang Shu, the organizer of Party building, Sun Zhikuan, the counselor of 19th-grade undergraduate students, and minority students from all grades.
At the seminar, students from Hui, Buyi, Tujia, Kazakh, and Uyghur minorities introduced themselves in turn and talked about their feelings from their personal growth experience, professional study, career development, food habits, folk culture, and other aspects. All the participating students expressed that they could adapt to the study and living environment of the University, get along with the students around them and feel the warmth of the University. The teachers at the meeting gave valuable advice and suggestions on the difficulties encountered in listening and pronunciation practice of foreign languages and encouraged them to ask for more advice from teachers and students.
Party Secretary Li Pingyou made a concluding speech. Secretary Li expressed his affirmation of the achievements of all of them and put forward two earnest expectations: firstly, to manage their transcripts well, to complete their studies successfully, and to seek more advice from their academic tutors; secondly, to do a good job in career planning, to combine their actual personal situations, to clarify the direction of their efforts, to enhance their employment competitiveness and to pay more attention to the latest employment policies in Shanghai and Lin-gang Special Area.
