The party lecture of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in four parts: Beginning, Responsibility, Inheritance and Mission. The lecture was conducted in four parts. Firstly, Xu Jianguang, the president of the university, presided over the first chapter of Beginning, introducing the story of Lin Qiying, the first secretary of the party committee of the university. Mr. Lin's original intention was to strengthen the construction of the Party and to cultivate senior Chinese medicine talents in the new China. When he first worked there, he also led the construction of the campus brick by brick, with hard work, and later proposed the three basic trainings of TCM: basic theory, basic knowledge and basic skills, which was recognized by the competent authorities. The second chapter begins with the school song, which tells the story of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine's stormy journey all the way since its establishment. Afterwards, Professor Liu Jiaxiang, a tenured professor and national medical master, gave a speech on The Way to Medicine, talking about My original heart and mission is to relieve patients' pain and save their lives. When Professor Liu Jiaxiang was studying medicine during World War II, when resources were scarce, he bought silver needles out of his own pocket to practice, wanting to cure the arthritis of local soldiers. Not forgetting the original intention, remembering the mission, the great doctor, unswerving, inheriting and developing the characteristics of Chinese medicine, integrating new knowledge, and serving the people's health for life. These words of Prof. Liu are also the true reflection of his life. The third chapter, Inheritance, was hosted by Yao Guangtao, Secretary of the Party General Branch of the Institute of Innovative Chinese Medicine of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Yao Guangtao believed that Chinese medicine is an ancient discipline with a long history, and it is through thousands of years of inheritance, development and innovation that this ancient discipline has come to this day. He proposed that medicine is human science, and to be a good doctor, one must first be a good person. Next, Prof. Wang introduced his philosophy of six emotions education: loyalty to the Party and the country, passion for the people, true love for the cause, affection for the collective, warmth for the family, and passion for life. This is precisely the six feelings that party members in the new era must adhere to. The last chapter, Mission, was hosted by Zhu Huirong, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university, and invited Professor Shen Yuandong from the International Organization for Standardization of Chinese Medicine to talk about the process of obtaining international standards for Chinese medicine. Professor Shen Yuandong spoke with passion and pride, telling the story of the twists and turns in the international standardization of Chinese medicine, and finally delivered a satisfactory answer to the country in 2015, telling the Chinese story to the world.
