College of Foreign Languages held a special lecture for the postgraduate entrance examination

    In order to encourage and promote the development of students' further studies, a special lecture on Choosing to study for an entrance examination and choosing to study for an entrance examination was held in the lecture hall of Foreign Languages Building in the evening of October 13 in the College of Foreign Languages Foreign Languages+ Zhiyang Classroom. Mr. Qian Minfang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, presided over the lecture, which was given by Prof. Song Zhiping and Prof. Li Huadong and attended by teachers from the Office of Academic Affairs and undergraduates of all years.

    Deputy Secretary Qian Minfang opened the lecture by briefly explaining the background and basis of the event, and introduced the two lecturers of this lecture.

    Professor Song Zhiping started the lecture. He shared his own experience in graduate school and his personal experience as a graduate tutor for many years. He emphasized that it is a general trend for undergraduate graduates to go to graduate school and encouraged them to choose the path of graduate school, but to choose schools and majors carefully. Mr. Song also talked with the students about his previous experience of taking students to graduate school and the strength of graduate education in the School of Foreign Languages, which brought a lot of thoughts to the students in the audience.

    From his own teaching experience, Professor Li Huadong discussed with the students the question of what is university, starting from whether to go to graduate school and why to go to graduate school. In the Q&A session, the students discussed the importance and purpose of university and emphasized the meaning and interest of pursuing knowledge and doing research.

    In the Q&A session, students asked questions about the enrollment of graduate students in our university, the interdisciplinary study situation of foreign students, and the selection of exempted students, etc. Both professors gave patient answers and hoped that students would choose their study majors and schools rationally. On the one hand, Mr. Qian encouraged the students to dare to think and do, and to complete quality examinations for further studies; on the other hand, he hoped that the students, under the guidance of the teachers, would fully evaluate their own situation and take every step carefully to make the path of examinations steady and successful.

    This lecture was held in response to the trend of graduate school for college students and the many confusions and misunderstandings of students in their choice of graduate school, and was positively responded to and enthusiastically attended by the students. During the event, two professors gave their sincere and pertinent advice to guide students in their choice of graduate school, which played a good role in promoting and guiding college students in their preparation and choice of graduate school.

    Since the beginning of this academic year, the Office of Academic Affairs of the College of Foreign Languages has been conducting research in each grade one after another. It mainly focuses on the characteristics and expectations of freshman students, the analysis of sophomore and junior students and their intention of professional development, and the employment situation of senior students to grasp the situation, sort out the needs, and clarify the focus and difficulties of work. In the face of the generally high demand and expectation for higher education in all grades, the Office of Academic Affairs of the College held a series of activities for students who have the intention to study for the entrance examination, aiming to help students who are currently confused about the choice of entrance examination and the choice of college and major to further clarify the direction and goal, and to promote students who have certain difficulties in preparing for the examination to study more effectively and gain good study status and confidence.
