In the afternoon of December 1, 2022, the second phase of the Salon of Teaching Development and Innovation Series of the College of Foreign Languages was successfully held online. The theme of this salon was Exchange and sharing of teaching cases of curriculum thinking and government.
First of all, Ms. Li Yaru, a golden course consultant from the Wisdom Tree Education Platform, introduced the focus of the demonstration course of Curriculum Civics and team building, and shared the excellent cases of online, offline and hybrid Curriculum Civics construction from five aspects: policy leadership, teaching objectives, teaching contents, teaching methods and teaching evaluation, which provided good reference for the teachers.
After that, Vice President Guo Haixia introduced the background of curriculum thinking and politics, the necessity and significance of integrating curriculum thinking and politics into foreign language courses, and how to integrate curriculum thinking and politics into foreign language teaching. She pointed out that teachers should think about how to keep the righteousness and integrate innovation, cultivate students' self-confidence, pride and autonomy, and enhance the image of the country; they should enhance the modernity of teaching, increase the ideology of the curriculum, expand the breadth and depth of thinking and politics education, and walk in the same direction as the ideological and political theory course to form a synergistic effect so that the foreign language classroom can become a place with real interaction and critical awareness of moral issues; teachers, the As teaching researchers and lifelong learners, they need to enhance their awareness and ability of the ideological and political education of the course, understand the core content of the course, and further refine it in order to explore and integrate the ideological and political elements. Ms. Guo Haixia also combined her teaching of English and American literature with concrete cases to show how to smoothly and naturally integrate curriculum thinking and political elements into the classroom.
After that, teachers of the college actively shared and exchanged ideas. Ms. Wu Mengjiao combined her teaching course English Audio-Visual Speaking and introduced both input and output, by making a good choice of teaching materials, combining the elements of the times and guiding students to think and discern so as to make better output. Ms. Sui Xiaojing introduced how to integrate Chinese culture into classroom teaching and how to use Japanese speech to spread Chinese culture and build cultural confidence, taking the course she teaches, Japanese Speech and Debate, as an example. Ms. Wang Lei shared how to integrate the elements of Civics into the course English-Chinese Comparison and Translation and guide students to think about cultural conflicts and achieve cultural exchange and cross-cultural communication by comparing two languages and the differences in thinking and culture embodied behind the language.
The salon provided new ideas for the teachers of the College of Foreign Languages to integrate the elements of thinking and politics in the classroom and to carry out the teaching of thinking and politics in the curriculum, and provided experience and methods to promote the organic integration of Xi Jinping Talks about Governance and Understanding Contemporary China series of teaching materials in foreign language teaching. The seminar provided new ideas for promoting the organic integration of Xi Jinping Talks about Governance and Understanding Contemporary China in foreign language teaching. The teachers at the conference expressed a deeper understanding of the connotation of Civics in the curriculum and inspired ideas for future curriculum reform.
